mojo's answers to your silly questions
Unfortunately, no. I have to keep the rules the same for everyone in order to
be fair and a deadline is just that. But you can probably still make the regular
registration cutoff if you hurry and not incur any additional late fee's.
I know my team missed the early entry deadline but I was out of town,
serving indigent people in a remote rainforest, away from all civilization,
electricity and especially the internet for the last six months. Can you
make an exception for us?
To my loyal fans:
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest and I'll get right to the point. I'm a
busy guy. The life of a celebrity gnome isn't all it's cracked up to be. My days of hanging out in
your lawn and catching a few rays while mooning passers by are a mere hazy memory of the past
my friend. I've got places to see and people to do. I can't simply respond to each and every one
of your emails so here's the answers to a few questions that you people keep nagging me with
OVER and OVER.
Hey Mojo! Whatup my brother from another mother? Love you,
love your tourney. Hope this isn't getting too personal but I've
always wondered what your family thinks of your celebrity status?
Do you still keep in touch with them and have they ever attended
any of the Ruggapalooza's?
Thanks buddy. Nothing's too personal really. Once you become famous,
your life is under the public magnifying glass. Funny that you should
mention mothers b/c the only immediate family I have left is my dear old
mom. She's one of the tourney founders and has been to every 'palooza
except 2006. She now works at Wal-mart in central Illinois and is on the
track to upper level management. Thanks for being a loyal fan. Rock on
with your bad self.
I've been to five of the first seven 'palooza's including 2006. The DJ
was a great add but is there any chance well be seeing some live
bands this year?
We're doing our best here. We've got a tight budget to work with so the
best alternative was having a DJ spin some tunes. We had a few local
bands lined up the first year but they bailed on us and never showed. Even
wasted $500 on getting the school to run electricity out there and the local
sound store to set up the equipment.
True story: We hunted down the management for Dave Matthews to
see if he'd do a charity concert at the 'palooza for us that
year. Why not ask? I figured the worst he/they could say
is no. And they did. Dave, if you're reading this, no hard
feelings man. The offer is on the table anytime you
wanna' play, we'll be waiting with open arms.
Who knows what 2008 will bring? It all really depends on the amount of
money we raise and how quickly we can do it. Every year we get a little
better. Keep the faith.
The schedule will be put out no later than the Tuesday before
Ruggapalooza. That's why it's important that everyone registers ASAP so
we can get that info out to you.
As far as the captains meeting goes, it makes it easier on everyone if you
have a representative there. With 32 teams it gets annoying repeating the
same information multiple times. Besides general tourney info and last
minute adjustments, the referees will go over any recent law changes and
will be available to answer specific questions prior to your teams warm ups.
Everyone gets all the info they need all at once. Help us out please by
being there and not creating additional work. It usually only lasts five to ten
minutes.
What time is my team playing? And do I HAVE to be there for the
captains meeting?
Do you play any instruments?
When I was a young lad I was shipped off to an all boys boarding school for
gifted gnomes. The harpsichord and conga drums were my preferred
instruments of musical expression but I also excelled with the flute. My
Junior year I took the lead role in the broadway adaptaion of the "Pied
Piper". Yes. I can act too.
My team doesn't have a credit or debit card, can I just send you a
check? It's going in the mail today. I promise.
Sorry, no. We're doing everything online from this point forward. This new
system makes it easier for everyone. No checks get "lost in the mail" and
on our end, we don't have to stress during the additional time it takes your
money to get here.
You can however pay by check through paypal. That's one of the options.
It takes abt 24 hours for the system to verify that the funds are available
but it's just as easy as using a credit card. Credit / debit card, paypal
account or eCheck are your options.
The fee's that paypal charges are charged to us, not you. To us, it's worth
being charged the small fee so that the system is a convenience to
everyone. We implemented it in 2006 and everyone liked it. Plus, you get
an instant receipt emailed to you for your records. Your team treasurer will
love you. We thank you for understanding and feel confident that this new
system will be of great benefit to everyone.
